Hi, hello!
Carrie Jones is a documentary and lifestyle photographer based in Adelaide, South Australia. As a storyteller, her images have evolved, exploring the connections between people and place as a way of both revisiting her own childhood memories and documenting that of the next generation.
My images are inspired by the connections we share with people and place, our environment and beautiful light. Being ocean side is my happy place and is often reflected in the images that I am drawn to and the work I create.

I photograph with a Canon 5D Mark iii body for the majority of my family photo work outdoors and usually with a Sigma 50mm 1.4 Art lens attached. I also use a Canon R6 with the rf 35mm 1.8 stm lens for indoor session and in very low light conditions outdoors. I pop my R6 in an Aquatech underwater housing with the 35mm or the canon rf 16mm 2.8 stm and dome port when I photograph underwater.
I talk a in a little more detail about what gear I use in this feature article by Shotkit.

I believe people and families come in all shapes and sizes, ethnicities and genders. Although the work I present remains limited in its representation of minority groups, I commit to seek opportunities to work alongside and tell the stories of all groups and aspire to produce a portfolio that promotes diversity, equity and inclusion. My aim for my family photography sessions is that everyone feels welcome, included and safe.
First Nations people are welcome. People of colour and people of all cultures and faiths, are welcome.
People of all genders, including members of the LGBTQIA+ community are welcome.
People with disabilities are welcome, and I commit to working with people with disabilities to accommodate access needs.
People of all sizes are welcome. I’m committed to promoting body positivity and diversity.
People of any age are welcome. I celebrate life at all stages.
Neurodiverse people are welcome. I am sensitive and accommodating to people’s varying needs.

A photographer without much of a social media presence seems like a silly idea, I know. But over the years I have found that 90% of families have found me either via word-of-mouth recommendations or via a google search for a photographer in their local area. Instagram and Facebook have not been a large part of how I have grown my family photography business and the social media platforms do not serve me well personally.
How does this affect you? Well, you will be able to “follow me” on those platforms, but they serve more as a landing page to redirect you through to my website. I encourage you to come back time and time again to my website as this is where I will update images and content as I create the work.
Your family photos won’t be shared on facebook or instagram by me, but you are very welcome to share them on your own social media accounts if you wish.
Word-of-mouth referrals will remain my key avenue for growing my business and reaching new families. So if you enjoy the work I create, please continue to spread the word both face-to-face and online.
